Předběžné objednávky dosáhly čísla 190 000 kusů. Počet celosvětově prodaných kusů však už po čtyřech týdnech dosáhl neuvěřitelných 4 000 000 kusů a do konce roku se počet přehoupl přes pět milionů. V roce 1980 přesáhl počet prodaných kusů hranici deseti milionů kusů.
Fotografii na obalu desky pořídil v pátek 8. srpna 1969 Iain Macmillan v deset hodin dopoledne. Provoz v ulici byl kvůli focení na deset minut uzavřen. Během této krátké chvilky bylo pořízeno šest snímků (na dvou snímcích je Paul obutý do sandálů). Jde o jeden z nejznámějších obalů v dějinách gramofonových desek.
