Původním záměrem bylo natočit celé album živě, ale sešlo z toho a vše se natáčelo ve studiu. V této skladbě zanechal George Martin alespoň počáteční rozpočítání "one, two, three, four...". Paul skladbu složil při jedné noční cestě domů v Liverpoolu v roce 1961. Původně měl první verš podobu: Well, she was just seventeen, never been a beauty queen... Johnovi se to ale nelíbilo a tak uvažovali o něčem jiném a nakonec John přišel s: you know, what i mean... To byla jasná sexuální narážka a nejen, že se to líbilo všem v kapele, ale i posluchačům. Basovou linku si Paul půjčil ze skladby I´m talking about you Cucka Berryho.
Jde o jednu z pěti skladeb, které Beatles zahráli 9. února 1964 ve slavné Ed Sullivan show. John Lennon ji zahrál i v roce 1974 v Madison Square Garden, kde se k němu přidal Elton John.

Text
Well, she was just seventeen,
You know what I mean,
And the way she looked was way beyond compare,
So how could I dance with another,
Oh when I saw her standing there
Well she looked at me,
And I, I could see,
That before too long I'd fall in love with her,
She wouldn't dance with another,
Oh when I saw her standing there.
Well my heart went boom when I crossed that room,
And I held her hand in mine.
Oh we danced through the night,
And we held each other tight,
And before too long I fell in love with her,
Now I'll never dance with another,
Oh when I saw her standing there.
Well my heart went boom when I crossed that room,
And I held her hand in mine.
Oh we danced through the night,
And we held each other tight,
And before too long I fell in love with her,
Now I'll never dance with another,
Oh since I saw her standing there.
Oh since I saw her standing there.
Well she was just seventeen and you know what I mean
